Nursery School & Preschool

 

The Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church Nursery School Preschool exists to educate the children of our community in the love of Jesus Christ.

We offer a Christ-centered atmosphere where children learn basic Christian values and the academic disciplines required to enter kindergarten. 

 

Nursery School

Nursery School uses the A Beka Book Curriculum. The program involves instruction in the following:

* Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments, hymns and choruses, memory verses, and prayer time

* The Alphebet - letter formation, recognition, and sound                                                               

* Number Recognition - (1-15) and counting - (1-30)                                                                      

* Skills Development - coloring, tracing, dot-to-dot, art, drama, poetry, finger plays, nursery rhymes,     

 stories with Amber Lamb, music, sharing, and beiing helpful

* Language Development - colors, shapes, animals, people, places and things                                    

The Nursery School meets two (2) half days per week from 8:45 am until 11:45 am.

Children are required to have turned three (3) years old before August 1st.

Children must meet the requirements for the state School Immunuzation Law.

 

Preschool

 Preschool uses the A Beka Curriculum. The program involves instruction in the following:

* Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments, hymns and choruses, memory verses, Bible doctrinal drills, and prayer time    

* Phonics - progressing from letter recognition and sounds to blend and word reading                                                           

* Number Recognition - (1-20). counting (1-100), number value, simple math skills, telling time, and other skills                        

* Printing - lower case letters, capital letters, blends, words, and numbers (1-20)                                                                  

* Skills Development - art, drama, music, poetry, finger plays, story time, cutting, opposites, distinguishing location, left and right,

tying, addresses, phone numbers, and character development lessons                    

* Language Development - colors, shapes, animals, people, places, and things                                                                    

The Preschool meets three (3) full days per week from 8:45 am until 2:45 pm.

Children are required to have turned four (4) years old before August 1st.

Children must meet the requirements for the state School Immunuzation Law.
