Missions @ Atlantic Avenue Church
At AAUBC we believe that God has called us to spread His message of love and forgiveness throughout the world. We base that belief on the "Great Commission" that Jesus entrusted us with when He departed this earth, Mathew 28:19-20, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Home Missions has been established in order to meet the needs of people within our own community of faith and those within the surrounding community of Franklin and Venango County. Through this ministry we are able to help people with the basic needs of life such as housing, food, clothing, utilities, and medicine. We strive to help individuals and families that have come upon hard times and simply need someone to come along side them with support. Our goal is to show the love of Jesus Christ to all people regardless of their circumstances.
Foreign Missions are also very important to us at AAUBC. We support a variety of missionaries and mission projects through our denominational missions department. United Brethren in Christ Global Ministries reachs people all across the globe including India, Africa, Asia, Europe, Central America, and the Carribean.
We as a church have recently partnered with a very worthy mission group in Haiti. The Mission of Hope Haiti is making a real difference in the lives of many Haitian men, women, and boys and girls. MOH is providing food for children, new homes for earthquake victims, medical treatment for the sick and injured, an education to over 2500 children, and most importantly they are doing it all while showing the love of Christ to everyone they encounter.
In January of this year 15 people from AAUBC will be going to MOH in Haiti to help with the work there. They will be involved with home construction for displaced families, maintenance and upgrades to the MOH campus, and working in the surrounding villages doing painting and evangelism. You can view photos from the trip and get a little taste of Haiti for yourself by visiting our photo gallery.
